Your Toledo Area Real Estate Specialist
Adam Zettel has always had an entrepreneurial spirit. Growing up in Wauseon which is about 30 minutes west of Toledo, he graduated from the University of Toledo in 2012. By that time, Adam’s parents had built seven houses. He looked up to his hardworking father who taught him almost everything about houses and home renovation projects. After his college graduation, it came as no surprise that Adam had the ambition to buy and sell three different homes that he completely renovated himself. Like his father, he put in long hours to make it happen.
At the time, Adam had a 40-hour week position as a Senior Laboratory Technician in a research and development company but still remodeled homes after hours and on weekends. Even though Adam was well into his career and promoted to a chemist, people still relied on him as the “house guy.” Friends and co-workers continuously sought Adam out for advice on their homes and reconstruction projects.
Seeing his potential, skills in real estate, and entrepreneurship, his Realtor® at the time, Kathy Werner, encouraged him to pursue his license. By December 2017, Adam was juggling both jobs working as a Realtor® and chemist. For 18 months he upheld his demanding schedule of a full-time position and was still able to successfully sell 30 homes and is now a full-time real estate agent.
“As cliche as it sounds, I became a REALTOR® because I like helping people. I recognized my wealth of house knowledge and my passion for working with people would make me a good fit for the profession. I always have been and always will be a people person.” Adam says, “I specialize in being brutally honest.” It’s what he believes is the driving force behind his business.
Adam’s desire to see his clients smiling at the end of the process is why he strives to be honest in recommending changes in order to get their home listed and sold. While he knows everyone might not care for it, most people find it refreshing. Adam always says, “Honesty is the best policy.” Integrity and being easy to work with are the qualities Adam wants people to think of when they think of him.
When he isn’t helping clients with their real estate needs, he’s busy taking care of his own. His house is a constant work in progress with multiple renovation projects. He admits that he has trouble sitting still for too long. His husband, Jeremy, says that he hasn’t been able to sit down for more than 10 minutes since they met. It’s part of Adam’s spontaneity which keeps them busy with impromptu trips to Ann Arbor, Detroit or even a fun day riding bikes around downtown Toledo.
Adam loves being a REALTOR®. He finds it both challenging and rewarding because “Your success is a direct correlation of how much time and effort you put into it.” His motto is inspired by the words of Marc Anthony: “If you do what you love, you’ll never work a day in your life.”
